Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith.
Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone’s welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation.
Alpha is for everyone; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.

Is it for me?
People around the world from all backgrounds, ages and faiths have done Alpha. Their feedback shows that the vast majority have found it helpful.
But I believe in God already!
Many Christians have found that Alpha has re-vitalised their faith. Some of us feel we cannot ask some questions because they are too ‘basic’. At Alpha no question is too ‘simple’ or too ‘difficult’.
But I don’t believe in God!
That’s ok – we thank God that we live in a free country! Would you consider taking part and enriching our conversations with your perspective? You will help those who have a faith to reflect more deeply on it and you may find that some of your assumptions about Christianity aren’t necessarily confirmed.
Can I ‘try before I buy’?
Yes! Just join us for one session and then decide whether you want to continue. There is no fee for the course, so you are not going to ‘lose your money’.
How long is it?
There are nine weekly sessions plus an Alpha Day (a half-day from 9.15am to 2.30pm on Saturday 16th March). Find all the dates on page 18.
What if I miss a session?
Don’t worry. You can catch up with the help of the manual that you will receive. You may even be able to join a different Alpha group that week (see page 18).
I haven’t got a car and don’t know how to get there.
Please contact our church office and we might be able to put you in touch with another participant.
Is it too late to join?
If you’ve missed only the first one or two sessions, do join us. If you’ve missed more than that, you could join us anyway, or wait for the next course. You can also go to alpha.org to find out whether a course is starting soon somewhere near you.

We’d love to! Please contact our church office.
