Join us for a community celebration in and around St Mary’s Church Denham. The earliest historical record for St Mary’s is from 1123, so this year we are celebrating 900 years!

There is no need to sign up for all other events – you can simply turn up.

SATURDAY 9 SEPTEMBER

  • 10 am-12 noon

    Let’s pick some litter!
    We will meet at St Mary’s Church and then spread out through Denham in groups to make our parish a little bit tidier.
    Equipment will be provided, but if you own a litter picker (grabber) and/or high-vis vest, please bring them along! You may also want to bring a water bottle. Picking litter is a great way to chat and get to know other members of our community. No need to sign up, simply turn up at 10am. Refreshments will be provided afterwards.

    We will be joining forces with Denham Parish Council’s campaign to clean up Denham on Saturday – do come along!

  • 2–5 pm: Open Garden in The White House

    Spend the afternoon in the beautiful garden of The White House.

    There will be access to the River Missbourne – please make sure that children (and adults wear beachwear shoes as the river bed has sharp stones etc)

    Access to pool for children between 2.30-4.30pm. Please bring swimwear and towels. Parents are responsible for their children at all times and are expected to be staying near the pool while their children are in the water.

    Full ticket, including a cake and a drink:

    Family £20

    Children, people with walkers and dogs on leads are welcome.

  • 4.00-4.30pm: A Slice of Denham History

    With Charlene Haar from the Denham Community History Project. Discover fascinating aspects from 900 years of history.
    The talk will last about 30 minutes. Afterwards you will have the option to explore St Mary’s Church and ask questions about its history. There is no fee for this event.

SUNDAY 10 SEPTEMBER

  • 10.30 am: Celebration Service for all ages

    St Mary’s Church and streamed live on Youtube.
    With Rev’d Ian Jennings
    Ian was our associate minister for four years until April this year. We are delighted to welcome him back.
    This service will last just over an hour and is suitable for all ages.

    There will be a special children’s activity during the service.
    We will also hear from our Patron, John Way about the centuries-long connection of the Way Family with St Mary’s.

    Please note: There will be no 9am service on the day.

  • 12-2pm: Barbecue at St Mary’s

    Hot Dog: £2

    Beef Burger: £3

    Denham Hazy India Pale Lager (440ml): £4
    A very tasty local beer from Denham!

  • 12.30 - 4.00 pm: Children’s Activities

    Children’s Activities on church site:

    • Face painting
    • Splat the rat
    • Lego
    • Hook a duck
    • Giant Jenga and more…

    No costs, a small donations.

    • Balloon art between 1.30-3pm: £1 

    Church Goods / Books and Crafts available too!

  • 1.30 pm: Chime the Bells of St Mary’s

    With our tower captain Andrew Simpson. No previous experience required – just turn up (main church door).

  • 2-4.15pm; Vestry Teas

    Enjoy a nice cuppa and a home-made cake in our vestry and (weather allowing) churchyard.

    Coffee or Tea (with one free refill): £1.50

  • 4.30 pm: Concert with Alumni4

    aLUMNI 4 will be conducted by our organist Stephen Armstrong. This quartet of vocalists from Cambridge has extensive experience in singing classical music from different periods and will delight us with a varied programme of about an hour.

    Tickets are £10 per person or £30 for a family. (Please note that this concert is not geared towards children younger than 10).

    Please note: This event will be ticketed and places are limited. Pre-booked tickets will receive best seats with full visibility.
