St Mary’s: Hybrid Service on Sundays at 10.30am

We are now offering a 10.30 am ‘hybrid’ service at St Mary’s Church. This is a service for everyone who would like to and is able to worship at St Mary’s Church or online on YouTube.

Some restrictions remain for the time being (see below) and it may not be like your ‘favourite’ service, but the church is a family and in a family we make compromises because it is important to be together – whether you are in the building or joining us online wherever you are.

Of  course you can also find our livestream without subscribing. Just go to our Youtube channel (use the link above or the shortened url  tinyurl.com/youtube-denham) and you can find all the latest videos, including live services in progress.

While we are taking our first steps with hybrid church, we won’t be able to show the words of hymns and prayer on screen. Please download the service sheet in advance. You will always be able to find it in our blog (click “Blog” in the menu or click here…)

We are continuing with some social distancing to keep everyone safe and reassure those who might be anxious about returning to church. To manage numbers and avoid disappointment, we have introduced a simple ticketing system. Please sign up before you attend the 10.30 am service!

Please note: Tickets will be available from the Monday (10am) before.

Have you got questions? Find the answers below!

The majority of people who attended the previous 9.30am service at St Mary’s prefer the later time. It also provides continuity with those who have been attending our online service at 10.30am.

Yes. We continue to keep social distancing rules so the capacity of St Mary’s will be reduced. Since the government has lifted lockdown rules we have increased the capacity, while keeping a distance between individuals and bubbles of about 1m.

Yes you can. Our aim is to always provide a space for you and to keep a few free seats for those who haven’t booked in advance. However, we’d prefer you sign up in advance so we don’t run out of space.

You can do this online at
www.denhamparish.church/events

or call the office on 01895 832771.

You can reserve a place six days in advance (from Monday morning, 10am). Please note that our office closes at 12.30pm on Fridays. After that you won’t be able to book a seat on the phone for the following Sunday.

We are still limiting numbers at our 10.30 service to keep everyone safe. That means in some weeks (e.g. when there is a baptism) the service can book up quite quickly.

Are you on our mailing list? That way you receive an invitation on Mondays at 10am to sign up. Sign up to our mailing list by clicking here…

Do you know that we are now live-streaming our service? Please join us online on our YouTube channel…

Yes, please. We’d like to start on time and wouldn’t want you to miss the start. Of course we’d rather you come late than not at all.

Yes you can. If you need to use the toilet, please speak to our welcome team at the back of church as access is through the vestry, which is locked during the service.

Hand sanitisers are provided at the doors and we strongly encourage you to use them as you enter and leave. We will observe a 1 meter social distancing rule and direct the flow of people in such a way that there will be no ‘accidental crowds’.

We are still asking you to wear a mask inside St Mary’s Church while Covid numbers are high. We will provide some masks at the door if you didn’t bring one.

Yes we can!

Yes. We are still avoiding all unnecessary touch such as handshaking. Refreshments will be served again once we have a team of helpers. Holy Communion will continue to be bread only for the time being.

We love children and they are very welcome. We will provide activity and colouring sheets at the entrance. Please bring your own pencils or felt-tips. For some services there will be a separate children’s activity during part of the service.

Please make sure you sign up children, too, so we can prepare adequately. Thank you!

The service will be based on Common Worship, the authorised liturgy of the Church of England.

Yes. Holy Communion (bread only) is typically part of the services on the second and fourth Sunday, either as part of the main service or straight afterwards.

You will receive clear instructions in the service booklet to make sure it is safe for everyone. There may be times when we change the dates for Holy Communion. When you sign up you will see a picture of bread and wine if it is Holy Communion. For others you will see the “Hybrid Church” logo.

About one hour and a little longer with Holy Communion.

No. Not all the services that we had before lockdown have come back yet and we are in the process of reviewing our service pattern.

There will be an offering plate available at the back of church. No offering will be taken during the service.

You will find a QR code in the service sheet if you’d like to give online.

You can also give online by clicking here…

Thank you for your support!

You should have received a confirmation email when you signed up online. It contains a “Cancel” button. Please use it so your place becomes available for someone else.

If you signed up with our church office, please call us on 01895 832771 and leave a message. Thank you.

Please call our parish secretary Victoria on 01895 832771.

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD
our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
